I’ve just been trying out Sharwoods Bhuna sauce, “perfect for lamb but also great with chicken”. Tonight I wanted something spicy (to clear my wife’s head cold) but also tasty that went with chicken and preferably in under ten minutes.
I microwaved 110g of Basmati rice for 11 minutes then snipped two chicken breasts into a frying pan with scissors and chopped a green pepper and some broccoli into the pan while the rice cooked.
In the last two minutes of cooking the rice I added the Bhuna sauce straight from the jar. It has a spice rating of 3 (I’m not sure what the maximum is) but it wasn’t face melting-ly hot, just very spicy but with good flavour. While the ingredients do say the jar includes onions and peppers I would definitely advocate adding some of your own for texture and filling.
Cashew nuts or toasted pine kernels would also make a very tasty addition and add some crunchy texture.
